Chess v Poker

Besides being a world-class poker player, Gary Benson (Australian b 1957) has also achieved some significant accomplishments in the world of chess. Benson began playing the game at the age of 13, and took a liking to correspondence chess – the style of chess in which moves are mailed back and forth between opponents, allowing games to continue for months or years. In 2003, Benson won the Australian Correspondence Chess Championship. In the years to follow, he would earn the International Master and Senior International Master titles for correspondence chess, which signified his mastery of the game.
