Knockout tournament

Knockouts are the standard format for many major international tournaments in a wide range of sports. The usual format is based upon a series of rounds, where the respective winners progress forward to the next round, and so on, until the 'final' is reached.
ChessWorld tournaments can be created where players are matched by rating, with the top seed playing the bottom seed and so on, or they can be matched at random so that each player will have equal chances of playing White or meeting stronger or weaker players than themselves.
